Eastern Railways




Headquartered at Kolkata, Eastern Railways is a mass transportation system serving the eastern part of India. The railways serves West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand. It runs a large number of suburban railway services, and express and mail trains. Eastern Railways covers 2,382 kilometers of rail.

Apart from passenger services, freight services are also offered. For the convenience of passengers, the railways has provided facilities such as computerized reservation, retiring rooms, tourist information centers and Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS).

The main stations under the administrative control of Eastern Railways are Howrah Railway Station, Asansol Junction Railway Station and Sealdah Railway Station.
