Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary

Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, inaugurated by Sanjay Gandhi in 1975, is located 10 km from Jamshedpur in Jharkhand. It extends over 195 sq km in the thick forest of Dalma Mountain Range, which is 3,000 ft high.

Elephants, barking deer, sloth bears, leopards, porcupines and tigers are the main inhabitants. There are small hideouts within the sanctuary to view the wild animals in their natural habitat.

The sanctuary is an ideal spot for trekkers. Another attraction here is a temple dedicated to Shiva, where a large number of devotees flock during Shivratri.

Accommodation conveniences are available in the guesthouses of Tata Steel and Forest Department.

October to June is the best time to visit.
