Chatra




Chatra is the administrative headquarters of Chatra District, Jharkhand. It has a glorious past with an outstanding historical heritage. It is well known for shakti cult. Chatra is about 120 km north-west of Ranchi - the capital of Jharkhand.

Major points of attraction include the Bhadrakali Temple, Khaya Banaroo, Tama Sin, Kolhua Hill, Kunda Fort, Kauleshwari Devi Temple, Dumer Sumer and Duari, Bichkiliya and Goa Waterfalls.

The nearest airport is at Gaya, in Bihar. Gaya Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead. By road, Chatra is linked with Itkhori, Ranchi, Bagara, Tandwa, Hazaribagh, Palamu and Gaya.
