Dumka District




Dumka District is situated at the height of 500 ft from the sea level and has an area of 5,518 sq km. It has topography with high ridges and valleys bounded by mountains and rivers. Dumka inhabits people from Dravidian, Austric and Indo-European family of languages.

Dumka is abundant in minerals such as coal, china clay, fireclay, iron, copper and lead. Paddy, maize, linseed, wheat, moong and mustard are the major crops. In addition, fruits and vegetables are also grown. Tourist spots include Bara, Bhumka, Choto, Gardo, Masanjore and Baba Basukinath Dham.
