Babore Temples




Babore Temples are the ruins of six temples existed at Babore in Udhampur District of Jammu and Kashmir. Babore is situated about 50 km from Udhampur.

Babore Temples are of similar in architecture of as that of the temples built by Lalitaditya, the ruler of Kashmir in the 8th century at Wangath. The stones, monolithic beams, pillars used for the construction are over a dozen feet long, and their sculptures and carving are splendid and impressive.

Only the ruins of three temples were recognized. Among these, two are still used by the villagers for worship, which are dedicated to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva.

Presently, Babore Temples are looked after by the Archaeological Department of India Government.
