Badshah Kadal is a wooden bridge built across the river
Jhelum in
Srinagar,
Jammu and Kashmir. It is named after Zain-ul-Abidin (AD 1420-70), popularly known as ‘Badshah’, a great patron of
Sanskrit. It is near to the
Amira Kadal. 'Kadal' is a Kashmiri word for 'bridge.' Constructed by Bakshi Ghulam Muhammad in 1957, this overpass connects the Maulana Azad Road with the one leading to the Civil Secretariat.
The Bund which leads from above
Zero Bridge to below Badshah Kadal, where one can walk along the banks of the Jhelum River on the popular footpath, is very interesting. The Government Central Market across Badshah Bridge has a variety of stalls for shopping.
