Spituk




Located on the banks of the Indus River, Spituk is a village about 10 km from Leh, Jammu and Kashmir. The place is renowned for its hilltop monastery.

Mahakal Temple (Paldan Lumo Temple) and Spituk Monastery are the chief attractions. Spituk Gustor is a main celebration held here. For trekking enthusiasts, Spituk is an excellent place. One can trek from Spituk to Hemis Gompa through the Markha Valley.

Spituk can be approached from Leh by bus or jeep in half an hour. Leh Airport is the nearby airport.
