Pahalgam



Situated 95 km from Srinagar, Pahalgam Valley is an idyllic resort at the confluence of the streams flowing in from the Sheshnag Lake, and the Lidder River in Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated at an altitude of 2,130 m, famous for relaxation and leisure, with breathtaking views of the Himalayan range. It is renowned as the base for the annual pilgrimage to the cave-shrine of Amarnath and center of woollen products. It forms part of the only saffron growing area in Asia.

The valley is an ideal destination for activities like horse riding, golf, trekking, and fishing. The best time to visit is during the summer season ranging from April to mid November. Baisaran, Hajan, and Mamal Shiva temple are the major picnic spots located nearby. A number of hotels offer best accommodation facilities for visitors.

The nearest railhead is Jammu Tawi and the airport is Srinagar Airport, 14 km from the city. Pahalgam is well connected by road with Srinagar.
