Stongde


Stongdey is a town in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. Situated in Kargil District, it is about 18 km north of Padum. Also known as Stongde, this place is at an altitude of 3500 m. Stongdey holds the credit of being the second largest monastic establishment in Zanskar. Stongdey Monastery is the prime attraction of this picturesque area. Zongkhul Monastery is easily accessible from Stongdey.

Stongdey can be approached from Padum, on the road leading to Zangla. Phugthal is about 50 km away.
