Kupwara




The administrative headquarters of Kupwara District, Kupwara is on the northern part of Jammu and Kashmir. Flanked by Pakistan on one side, it is 85 km northwest of Srinagar – the capital city of Jammu and Kashmir.

Along with its scenic beauty, it boasts of many historical places and monuments. Muqam-e-Shahwali, a shrine located at distance of 4 km from the town, is worth visiting. In the month of May, during Urs people visit this sacred place.

Kupwara is also noted for springs and Gashi Nag and Lakhmani Nag Karihama are the famous among them. Awathkul and Deedikoot are nearby villages.
