Hanle River

Hanle river, a short left bank tributary of the Indus River, originates from the northern slopes of the Zanskar range in eastern Ladakh of Jammu and Kashmir.

The main stream of the Hanle is formed by two streams, which in turn originates from the glaciers. This stream, which flows towards the north, joins the Indus River near Loma.

Hanle has played a major role in shaping the topography of the catchment of the river. Its area is devoid of human habitation as well as vegetation.
