Handwara




Handwara is a small town, neighboring a dense forest, Kupwara District of Jammu and Kashmir. It is 26 km from Sopore and 88 km north of Srinagar.

Places of tourist include Kajinag, Souimji (the volcanic mountain revered by the Hindus), Churu Nad and Nowgam Meadow. The Lignite mine of Nichahom is situated here in Handwara.

The nearest airport is Srinagar Airport and the nearest railhead is Jammu Tawi Railway Station at Jammu.
