Athra Buja Devi Temple

Athra Buja Devi Temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Sarthal, in Doda District, Jammu and Kashmir. This cave temple is about 18 km from Kishtwar.

Legend has it that Goddess Athra Bhuja came from Hari Parbat (Kashmir) and took rest in the cave where the temple is now situated. There is a popular belief that mother Sharika shifts during winter to this place.

Thousands of devotees throng the temple during the fire dance or walking on fire held in July and August - a major celebration of the temple.

Athra Buja Devi Temple is accessible from Kishtwar, 70 km north-east of Doda. Jammu Tawi Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
