Narkanda, at the height of 8,100 ft, is a hill station located on the Old Hindustan-Tibet Road (National Highway 22), between the valleys of river Sutlej and Beas. A favorite destination of tourists who enjoy winter sports and panoramic views of the Himalayas, the place is 65 km from Shimla. At a distance of 8 km from Narkanda is Hattu Peak. The peak is famous for skiing. Narkanda is doted with lakes, temples and deodar trees. January to June is the ideal time to visit Narkanda. Shimla Airport at Jubbarhatti (75 km away) is the closest airport. The nearest railhead is in Chandigarh, 177 km away. Hotel Hatu is one of the best hotels in Narkanda.
