Joginder Nagar, the erstwhile Sukrahatti village, is an ideal locale for picnics, sightseeing, fishing and trekking in Mandi District. The place is named after Raja Joginder Sen of Mandi who constructed a Hydel power scheme here in 1925. Joginder Nagar is around 200 km north of Shimla.

Places of tourist interest include Macchiyal Lake, Bir (16 km), Jhatingri (12 km), Baijnath temple (23 km), Bassi powerhouse and Barot (40 km). Nearby towns of Mandi and Kangra have better housing facilities.

Nearest airport is at Kangra. Joginder Nagar Railway Station is a terminus point of the rail line from Pathankot. National Highway 20 passes through Joginder Nagar and it is connected with Kangra, Pathankot and Mandi (55 km).
