Nichar




Lying on the left bank of the Sutlej, Nichar is a picturesque hamlet situated 5 km above Wangtoo in Shimla District, Himachal Pradesh. The village lies at an altitude of 3,150 m above sea level, on the Shibaling Pass trek route in the Baspa Valley. Surrounded by lush green forests and rocky glen, the village commands majestic views of the snow-clad peaks of Himalayas and deep valleys all around. Ukha Devi Temple (also called Usha Devi Temple) is the main attraction here. Goddess Ukha is the village deity. Nearby tourist destinations include Tranda (14 km), Taklesh, Chaurah, Mupa, Charang, Chitkul, Wangtoo, Nigul, Karchham and Kanda Lake. Nichar is an ideal base for trekking and mountaineering. Rest houses and small inns are available for stay. The nearest railway station and airport are at Shimla. Nichar can be easily approached from Sangla and Shimla.
