Solan District




Solan, the district of Himachal Pradesh is blessed with a pleasant climate all the year round. The district is named after the Goddess Soloni Devi, whose temple is located in the southern end of the town. Solan District lies at an altitude of 1350 m above sea level. It is well known for brewery which was started in 1835. There is an old sprawling horticulture and forestry university. Chir pine trees, apricots and walnuts are found all over the hills. Rice and Maize are the main crops of Solan. Vegetables such as tomato, ginger and green chilli are widely grown here.

Kasauli, Barog, Chail, Parwanoo, Kiarighat, Shalooni Devi Temple, Bon Monastery - the second oldest monastery in the world, and Darlaghat are the important places to visit.
