Bhakra




Bhakra is a village on the banks of the Gobind Sagar Lake, in the north-western end of Bilaspur District. It is near the district's border with Una District of Himachal Pradesh and Rupnagar District of Punjab. Bhakra is 90 km from Bilaspur, the district headquarters, and about 25 km from Naina Devi.

Bhakra Nangal Dam, the world's second highest straight gravity dam, is situated here. Naina Devi Wildlife Sanctuary is within a short drive.

The place is linked with Bilaspur and Chandigarh via Nanda Devi by road. Kiratpur Sahib Railway Station and Shimla Airport are the main access points.
