Keylong, the district headquarters of
Lahul and Spiti District, is 115 km from
Manali, on Indo-Tibetan Border. Situated at an altitude of 3350 m on a fertile plain, Keylong is a perfect haunt for the tourists. A commercial hub-center, Keylong is dominated by a number of monasteries. Prominent among them are the Khardong Monastery, Shaspur Monastery and
Tayul Monastery.
The nearest airport is at Bhuntar, 165 km from Keylong and the nearest railhead is at Joginder Nagar, 280 km away. Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation operates regular buses to Leh via Keylong during season.
