Giri River

Giri River, also known as Giriganga, is a main tributary of the Yamuna River. It originates from the Kupar peak just above Jubbal town after flowing through the heart of Shimla hills in Himachal Pradesh. The river then flows down in the south-east direction and divides the Sirmaur District into equal parts known as Cis-Giri and Trans-Giri region. The water from this river is led to the powerhouse of Giri Nagar and from there it is led into the Bata River.
