Hari Kothi House

Hari Kothi House lies in the estate of Hari Kothi at Dharamsala. This villa has been the summer residence of the Kutlehar Royal Family. Surrounded by woods scented with wild Himalayan flowers, this villa offers panoramic views of Kangra Valley. It is said that Swami Vivekananda once stayed here. This charming villa is built in the standard timber framed structure. Vertical beams are spanned by horizontal beams which create a mesh of wooden framework. Wooden planks are fitted in a diagonal cross corner to corner. The open spaces are filled with stone blocks and held together by mortar of clay, lime and pine needles. Nearby tourist destinations include Dalai Lama's Palace, Kotwali Bazaar and St John's Church. Accommodation is available here. Nearest airport is Gaggal Airport. Nearest railway station is at Pathankot. Hari Kothi is connected to Dharamsala by road. Prior appointment is needed to visit Hari Kothi House.
