Dhankar Fort




Dhankar Fort is situated at Dhankar in Lahaul and Spiti District, Himachal Pradesh. It lies high above the confluence of the Pin and Spiti rivers in Spiti Valley. From the fort one can see vast expanses of the Spiti Valley. This fort is used to be a prison in olden times, now it is in ruins. Nearby tourist destinations include Tabo Monastery, Lingti, Serkhang, Lalung, Dhankar Lake, Attargo, Dhankar Monastery, Mane Monastery and Kye Monastery. Kullu Manali Airport at Bhuntar is the nearest airport. The nearest railway stations are Shimla Railway Station and Joginder Nagar Railway Station. Dhankar is connected to Kaza and Tabo (24 km) by road.
