Dhankar Monastery




Dhankar Monastery is an 800-year-old monastery situated at Dhankar Village, about 25 km east of Kaza in Lahaul and Spiti District.

It houses some Buddhist paintings and sculptures, and Buddhist Scriptures in Bhoti language. The principle figure is that of the Dhyan Buddha, known as ‘Vairocana’, facing all directions, sitting back to back.
