Bon Monastery

Yung Drung Ling

Bon Monastery, also known as Yung Drung Ling, is situated at a distance of about 12 km from Solan in Solan District of Himachal Pradesh. This is the second oldest monastery in the world after the one present in Tibet. The monastery has a large statue of Lord Shenrab Mibo. In 1969, the monastery was founded by the Abbot Lungtog Tenpai Nyima. Three sacred bon dances (Cham) are performed on New Year eve, which attracts a lot of people to this place. With a yellow roofed chapel and a number of flags fluttering on the roofs, the monastery is an ideal tourist destination.
