Hamirpur




Hamirpur, the seat of administration of Hamirpur District, is a thickly populated town on the Shimla-Dharamsala road, in Himachal Pradesh. The town, situated on a lower elevation, is comparatively warmer than the rest of the state. It has some hilly ranges covered by pine forests. Hamirpur is 110 north-west of Shimla.

Places of tourist interest include Bhota (15 km), Deot Sidh Temple (30 km), Nadaun (27 km) and Sujanpur Tira (22 km).

Nearest airport is at Kangra, 83 km north of Hamirpur. Closest broad gauge railway station is at Una. Hamirpur can be approached by road from Shimla, Chandigarh and Pathankot.
