Manimahesh Yatra is a pilgrimage wherein the pilgrims start from Lakshminarayan Temple in Chamba and reach Manimahesh Lake
to take a holy dip in the lake. The yatra is undertaken every year, fifteen days after Janmashtami.
The pilgrims walk barefoot, singing bhajans in praise of Lord Shiva
. After the yatra, the pilgrims visit the ancient Chhatrari temple situated between Chamba and
Manimahesh yatra has been declared as a state-level fair by the Himachal Pradesh Government. One must be physically fit to undertake this yatra. Manimahesh can be approached directly from
Pathankot via Chamba and Bharmaur, which is a popular itinerary.
