Bara Bangal




Bara Bangal is a picturesque village situated 15 km from Thamsar Pass in Kangra District. It lies at an elevation of about 2,575 m, on the Manali – Bir – Dharamsala trek route. Ravi River flows through Bara Bangal. The village is surrounded by the Bara Bangal Ranges and lush green forests. Baijnath, Bir, Kaliheyni Pass and Dhardi are nearby places of interest. Bara Bangal is inhabited by Kanet families of the Gaddis tribe.

Bara Bangal is an ideal base for trekking and mountaineering. Base camps are available. The best time to visit is June-October.

Nearest airport: Gaggal Airport.
Nearest railway station is at Pathankot.
