Hisar District




Hisar District of Haryana occupies an area of 3,983 sq km. The word ‘Hisar’ is derived from an Arabic word which means ‘Fort’. Excavations in Agroha reveal the existence of Harappan culture. Hisar was well known from the Vedic period. Chaudhary Charan Singh Agricultural University is an educational institution with all facilities for research in agriculture. Jahaz kothi, Gujari mahal, Adampur and Jain pillar are the prime tourist attractions.
