Pinjore

Pinjore is a place of historical and religious importance. It is located 22 km from Chandigarh and 14 km from Panchkula. It is believed that Pandavas, on their way to the Himalayas, had stayed here for some time. Hence, the place got the name Panchpura - literally meaning 'the city of five'. In due course the name changed to Pinjore. Paleolithic period tools - fabricated on quartzite - have been found from this place. Archeologists have also found several sculptures belonging to 9th-12th century. Yadavindra Gardens, Bhima Devi temple and Morni Hills are popular destinations of Pinjore.
