Rewari




Rewari town, situated in southern Haryana, is the administrative headquarters of Rewari District and is about 100 km southwest of New Delhi. It is also called the ‘Brass City’, alluding to its vast Brassware market.

Rewari was founded by Raja Karampal in 1000 AD. The present city was built by Raja Rawat and was named after his daughter, Rewati. It is also said that the city was christened after Rura Singh, a Jamindar of 16th century.

Rewari is now a fast growing industrial town in the state. Motor cycles, televisions, non-woven carpets floor tiles, beer, cotton and synthetic yarn forms a major chunk of the produce.

Places of tourist interest include Lal Masjid, the fort of Gokalgarh and the Rao Tula Rama's palace at Rampura.

Rewari is on a major rail junction on the Delhi-Jaipur line. Regular bus services connect this place with Gurgaon and New Delhi. Nearest airport is the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
