Gohana




In ancient times, Gohana was known as Gavambhavana and was considered a sacred place. Historically, Gohana is important as a center of Rajput power. Prithviraj Chauhan had constructed a fort here. After defeating Prithviraj in 1192, Muhammad Ghori destroyed the fort. Later, Gohana became a settlement of Taga Brahmans. Till recently, Gohana was a tehsil of Rohtak District, however, at present it is under Sonipat District.
