Been

A snake charmer in India is identified by his ‘Been.’ He uses the Been, which is a double-reed wind instrument, for making his snakes dance. The instrument is also used for providing music during many folk dances.

The Been consists of a hollow gourd fixed with two small bamboo pipes. One pipe contains holes for tuning the notes, while the other pipe produces the monotonous basic note. The mouthpiece is situated on the gourd.
