Tharad




Tharad is a small town located about 23 km from Bhorali in Banaskantha District. Believed to have been established by King Thirupal Dharu, this place is considered sacred by the Jains. In olden days, Tharad was known by several names such as Thirpur, Thiradi, Thirapadra and Tharapadra. Shri Tharad Teerth is the main attraction. The beautiful idol of Shri Adishwar Bhagwan of this temple is in Padmasana position. Besides, there are ten temples here worth visiting. Shri Vav Teerth and Shri Bhorol Teerth are famous Jain temples easily reachable by road. Accommodation facilities are available for pilgrims. The railway station at Deesa is accessible within 60 km range.
