Surendranagar District




Surendranagar is the major cotton growing area in Gujarat. It covers an area of 10,489 sq km. Wadhvan is the major town. Important places are Dharangadhra, Tarnetar, and Thangadh. Main crops are bajra, jowar and groundnut. The headquarters Surendranagar is a major center of cotton trading. The industrial base Dharangadhra is the chief producer of pottery, chinaware and basic chemicals. Tarnetar Fair is the famous festive occasion.
