Situated on the banks of river Narmada, Ankleshwar is known as the oil city of the western India. The town has developed into a large industrial area in last 25 years. The main industry is production and exploration of oil and natural gas. Ankleshwar is also the largest global producer of ethambutol. The place is in the Bharuch district of Gujarat, about 79 km away from Vadodara, and is situated on the rail route between Surat and Vadodara. Ankaleshwar has 4 Jain temples.
