Sarvodaya is an Indian term which means 'everybody’s welfare,' Sarvodaya is the essence of Gandhian thought. The Sarvodaya movement was started by Mahatma Gandhi in the 1950s. The philosophy of Sarvodaya is aimed at world fraternity. The Gandhian social philosophy of non-violent means of social transformation was the central philosophy of the Indian concept of Sarvodaya. Sarvodaya advocates true self-realization of the individual through dedicated service to the community, especially its weaker sections.
