Arya Samaj




Arya Samaj is a religious cum social organization founded on April 7th, 1875 at Mumbai by Maharishi Dayananda Saraswati. It was established with the aim of propagating the true meaning and principles of the Vedas. The purpose was to shift from the non-realistic beliefs gathered by the Hindu religion to the actual teachings of the Vedas. It strives to promote and preserve the Vedic culture. The goal of this society is described by the words ‘Krinvanto Vishvam Aryam’ which means ‘make this world noble.’

The word ‘arya’ means a noble human being with good thoughts and good actions. The person having these qualities is termed as an Arya. This kind of people constitutes the Arya Samaj. This organization is active in most parts of the world, with its branches established in the major cities and countries around the globe.
