Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary



Nestled around the Nal Lake, the Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary is around 65 km south-west of Ahmedabad.

It sprawls over 115 sq km and is home to flamingoes, pelicans, geese, cranes, storks, ibises, spoonbill, wading birds, swallows, fishing eagles, osprey and harriers. Mammals such as nilgai (blue bull), blackbuck, wild ass, jackal, common fox, black-naped hare, porcupine and hedgehog; reptiles such as monitor lizard, cobra, black rat snake, wolf snake, sand boa, checkered keelback and saw-scaled viper are seen here. Fish species include catla, rohu and mrigal.
