Kheda District of
is known as the land of the 'Golden Leaf'. It is the major tobacco-growing district of Gujarat. Kheda spreads over an area of 7,194 sq km. Bajra and fruit are the major crops. The chief cotton and tobacco collection center is Nadiad, and Petlad is the textile center. There is a thermal power station at Dhuvaran.
The historical place Khambhat is well known for sweets and beautiful agate stone handicrafts. Dakor is an important pilgrim center, and a popular fair, Sharad Poornima fair, is held here annually. Important temples include Santram Temple and Sri Mai Mandir, famous for its carvings. Lasundra, a small town, is famous for its hot springs.
