Panchmahals District




Panchmahals is the easternmost district of Gujarat. It covers an area of 8,866 sq km. Population is over 2 million. Godhra is the district headquarters. Rice, maize, and pulses are cultivated. Panchmahals has a large tribal population, mainly Bhils.

Pavagadh, a hill town with the remains of several forts and palaces is an important town. Navratri, celebrated in September-October, is the main festival. The famous fair in honor of Goddess Mahakali is held in March/April. Malav, Tuva, Kakachia, Kadana, Devgad Baria are the main attractions.
