Balasinore Fossil Park

Balasinore Fossil Park is at Raiyoli, about 86 km from Ahmedabad. It is one of the three largest dinosaur sites in the world. According to experts, this site may have been a major breeding ground for dinosaurs about 65 million years ago. Many dinosaur eggs and fossils were excavated from here. Meteorites or volcanos must have destroyed this place. This site is considered to be a part of the `Shiva crater’ caused millions of years ago by a meteor over an area extending from present day eastern Gujarat to the coast off Mumbai. A fossil park and dinosaur interpretation center is proposed by TCGL (Tourism Corporation Gujarat Limited) at this place.
