Located about 35 km from
Panaji, Shri Shantadurga Temple at
Kavlem is dedicated to
Goddess Shantadurga. It was constructed during the period 1713 to 1738. Main attraction is the beautiful idol of Goddess Shri
Durga. Devotees believe that Shri Shantadurga had stopped the war going on between
Lord Shiva and
Vishnu.
This temple is famous for numerous festivals including Vasant Utsav, Palkhi Utsav, Lalkhi Utsav, Muktabharani Utsav and Anantvrat Utsav. A guesthouse has been built to provide accommodation for the devotees.
