Shri Chandranath Temple




Shri Chandranath Temple is a delightful shrine situated at Paroda, about 45 km from Panaji, the capital of Goa. It is situated on the top of 350 m high hill of Chandranath. The temple is dedicated to Lord Chandreshwar, an incarnation of Lord Shiva.

Most noteworthy feature is that the Shivling installed here is carved out from rock which oozes water when the rays of full moon fall on it. The temple’s ancient chariot is well known for its wood carvings.

The deity of the temple was the titular deity of Bhoja kings who ruled South Goa till the middle of 8th century.

The nearest railway station is at Margao.
