Pilar Monastery




Pilar Monastery is a Christian religious center located at Pilar in North Goa District. It was built by the Franciscan Fathers in 1613. This monastery is the source of spiritual enlightenment for the followers of the Franciscans.

The interiors of the monastery are covered with frescoes depicting religious episodes. The famous Church of Our Lady of Pilar is situated here. The church houses the tomb of Father Agnelo D'Souza.

Pilar is around 11 km from Panaji, capital city of Goa.
