The Kavale Mutt, the oldest Mutt of the
Saraswat brahmins, is situated at Cortalim (Kushasthali) of South Goa District. It was founded by Vivarananda Swamy, the disciple of Govind Bhagavarpada. The mutt has expanded rapidly all over India in Varanasi, Gokarna, Sadashivgad, Belgaum, Allahabad, Nasik, Mumbai and
Khanapur. Today this mutt conducts various socio-cultural programs.
