North Goa District

North Goa District occupies 1,736 sq km of land. The district has two distinct areas: one is a busy area around Baga and Calangute, and the other an unspoilt area on north of Siolim village. The coastline of North Goa is a scenic alternation of bays and headlands. This feature has given Goa great tourist appeal. Lakes such as Mayem, Chimbel, Carambolim and Calapur add to the scenic beauty. The district offers a pleasant climate and there are only slight variations in temperature through the seasons. Panaji, the capital of Goa, Old Goa, Mapusa, and Bicholim are the important cities of North Goa.

Beaches such as Arambol, Vagator, Miramar, Dona Paula, Colva, Agonda and Palolem have won for the district the title of 'the land of golden beaches.' There are also facilities for eco-tourism. Fort, caves, waterfalls, museums and galleries make North Goa a wonderful place.
