Shri Navdurga Temple

Shri Navdurga Temple, dedicated to Goddess Navdurga, is situated at Madkai - the third Industrial Estate developed in Ponda. This 500-year old temple was renovated in 1603. The presiding deity here is worshipped in the form of Mahishasuramardini - a fierce form of Goddess Durga. The idol is about 4 ft in height and is made of stone. Lord Ganesh, Grampurush, Narayana, Betala and Ravalnatha are also worshipped here.

The annual Jatra (procession), held in the month of Kartika (November) from Vidya Chaturthi to Dashami, is a major draw and is attended by thousands of people from far and near. Navratri is another major event, celebrated amidst much pomp and splendor.

The temple has an Agrashala (pilgrim rest room) with limited accommodations.

Shri Navdurga Temple is 28 km from Panaji, the capital city of Goa.
