Colva

Colva is a small fishing village that lies 6 km west of Margao in South Goa District of Goa. The greatest charm of the village is its splendid, white sandy beaches. One of the oldest and largest holiday resorts of South Goa, Colva abounds in coconut groves and verdant fields. The place treats its guests with holiday hotels, colonial style villas and tumble-down fishing huts. The Church of Our Lady of Mercy, rebuilt in the 18th century is an added attraction. Fama of Menino Jesuse (Child Jesus), celebrated in the third Monday of October every year, is a famous religious event of this village. The tourist season peaks in April-May. The nearest airport is at Dabolim, 20 km away and the nearest railway station is at Margao, 8 km from here.
