Anjuna




Anjuna, 18 km north of Panaji, is located on the shores of the Arabian Sea and is a thriving hub of shipbuilding and fishing. The villagers engage in traditional crafts such as mud pottery and rope making.

Anjuna was once an important trading post for Arabs. The word ‘Anjuna’ is derived from the Arabic word ‘Hanjuman’. The prime attractions at Anjuna are Anjuna Beach, Albuquerque mansion, Mascarenhas mansion and Chapora fort. The tourists flock to Anjuna during Christmas and New Year. The place is also known for full-moon parties. The Wednesday flea market held in the village attracts thousands of tourists. Anjuna has a host of accommodation facilities. Mapusa town is east of Anjuna.

Goa Airport is 47 km away and the nearest railway station is the Karmali Railway Station (29 km). Regular bus services and taxis are available from Panaji to Anjuna.
