Hatsal

Village with a replica of Qutab Minar

Hatsal, also spelt Hashtsal, is a small village in the extreme western corner of Delhi. It is located near Najafgarh and is at 10 minutes drive from Dwarka. Hatsal, literally means elephants' stable and during the reign of the Slave Dynasty, this was a site for a very large stable for elephants. The sleepy village has the distinction of having a miniature replica of the Qutab Minar. This medieval tower, known as Hatsal Minar (Hashtsal Minar), looks exactly like Qutab Minar, except for its height which is much lower than that of Qutab's. The tower is a protected monument.
